Mixed News for Philadelphia Eagles in Initial Injury Report of the Week
ICARO Media Group
In the latest injury report for the Philadelphia Eagles, there is a mix of positive and concerning news for the team. Right tackle Lane Johnson was limited in practice on Wednesday, while tight end Dallas Goedert did not participate.
Johnson, who missed the Bills game due to groin soreness, underwent an MRI that showed no significant damage in the area where he had previously undergone surgery after the Super Bowl. Although limited in practice, his participation indicates a positive step towards his recovery.
On the other hand, Goedert has missed the previous two games against the Chiefs and Bills with a forearm fracture that he sustained in the Cowboys game. Despite feeling close to returning according to his own assessment, he will need to wait until at least Thursday to try to practice. However, the Eagles have opted not to place him on the injured reserve list, suggesting that they believe he will be able to play in the upcoming game against the Cowboys.
Defensive starters Fletcher Cox and Zach Cunningham, who both left the last game early, were listed as non-participants on Wednesday. Cox is dealing with a groin injury, while Cunningham is nursing a hamstring issue. The absence of these key players raises concerns about the team's depth at the off-ball linebacker position, with only Nicholas Morrow and Christian Ellis currently healthy on the 53-man roster.
To bolster their linebacker options, the Eagles brought in Shaq Leonard for a visit on Wednesday, although no signing has been confirmed at this time. With a roster spot available, the team is likely to sign either Leonard or potentially promote Ben VanSumeren from the practice squad if Leonard doesn't sign.
It is important to note that the injury designations are estimates due to the team conducting a walkthrough practice. The actual status of the players will become clearer as the week progresses.
