Dallas Cowboys star linebacker, Micah Parsons, expressed his support for former defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, as he takes on a new role as the head coach of the Washington Commanders. Parsons, who had only known Quinn as his defensive coordinator during his three years with the Cowboys, credited him for his development as one of the most formidable defenders in the NFL.

Quinn's impact on Parsons was evident, as the 26-year-old linebacker was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021 and has since garnered three All-Pro nods. Parsons finished second for Defensive Player of the Year last season and is currently a finalist for the prestigious award once again. Undoubtedly, Quinn played a significant role in Parsons' rapid rise to defensive stardom.

Speaking to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe during the Pro Bowl Games in Orlando, Parsons expressed his happiness for Quinn's new opportunity. He referred to Quinn as a "big uncle" and acknowledged the importance of this step in his career. Parsons stated, "Any team out there is lucky to have him. He stayed with me as long as he could."

Quinn, in his first official statement as the Commanders head coach, looked back at his time in Dallas with gratitude. He expressed his appreciation towards Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, Coach Mike McCarthy, and the entire Cowboys organization, emphasizing the familial bond that had formed during his tenure.

Parsons also had a message for his Commanders counterparts, urging them to recognize the value of having Quinn as their leader. He described Quinn as an "upstanding, outstanding guy" who would genuinely care for and support his players. Parsons encouraged the Commanders to appreciate Quinn's presence and greatness, reminding them that no one would love and care for them more than their new head coach.

The Cowboys and the Commanders have a storied rivalry, having faced each other a total of 128 times, including in the playoffs. However, with Quinn now coaching the Commanders, future matchups between Parsons and his former mentor will undoubtedly hold special significance for both men as they find themselves on opposite sidelines.

As the Cowboys bid farewell to Quinn, Parsons sends his well-wishes and hopes the Commanders' players will embrace their new head coach's leadership and play with an abundance of heart. The impact of Quinn's departure from the Cowboys will undoubtedly be felt, but Parsons remains grateful for the time they spent together and the impact Quinn had on his career.

As Parsons returns from the Pro Bowl Games, he will face a different reality without his beloved defensive coordinator by his side. Nevertheless, he remains focused on his own growth and success, while still offering his support for Quinn in his new endeavor with the Washington Commanders.
