The news comes from a report by Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, who states that Weaver will be joining Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel's staff.

Weaver's appointment follows his successful three-season stint with the Baltimore Ravens. The former NFL defensive end previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans in 2020. This experience will undoubtedly be beneficial as he steps into his new role with the Dolphins.

The hiring of Weaver fills the void left by Vic Fangio, who mutually parted ways with the team after just one season to take on the position of defensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles. With Weaver's background and expertise, the Dolphins can expect a smooth transition in their defensive coaching staff.

During his time with the Ravens, Weaver worked as the defensive line coach and run-game coordinator in 2021. His contributions were recognized when he was given the additional title of associate head coach in 2022. Prior to his stint with the Ravens, Weaver also served as the defensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills in 2013 and the Cleveland Browns from 2014 to 2015.

Weaver began his NFL career as an assistant defensive line coach for the New York Jets in 2012. His dedication and hard work led him to become the defensive line coach for the Houston Texans in 2016. After four successful seasons in that role, he was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2020.

As a player, Weaver was a second-round draft pick by the Ravens in 2002. He spent four seasons in Baltimore before joining the Houston Texans as a free agent. Weaver played for the Texans from 2006 to 2008, accumulating impressive statistics including 15.5 sacks, 2000 tackles, five forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and three interceptions throughout his career.

Rumors of Weaver emerging as the frontrunner for the Dolphins' defensive coordinator position circulated on Friday. Now, with the reports of his appointment, it appears that the search has come to an end. However, as of Saturday morning, the Dolphins have not officially announced the hiring.

With Weaver's wealth of experience and proven track record, the Miami Dolphins are looking forward to strengthening their defense under his leadership. The team and its fans eagerly await the official announcement and the positive impact Weaver will undoubtedly bring to the organization.
