SEATTLE -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced that quarterback Mason Rudolph will be starting his second game in as many weeks, according to coach Mike Tomlin. Rudolph will lead the Steelers against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, while second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett remains questionable and could potentially serve as Rudolph's backup.

Pickett, who underwent TightRope surgery on his ankle on December 4, has not played since then. Despite being a limited participant in practice last week, he was inactive for the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. His availability for the upcoming game is uncertain.

Rudolph seized the opportunity in his first start of the season against the Bengals, throwing for an impressive 290 yards and two touchdowns. His stellar performance not only resulted in a win for the Steelers, but also marked the highest passing yardage achieved by any Steelers quarterback this season.

Coach Tomlin praised Rudolph's poise and confidence on the field, stating that the quarterback's belief in himself and aggressive mentality were evident throughout the game. Rudolph displayed great comfort in being himself and effectively communicated with his teammates, showcasing his self-assurance and determination.

Having only recently returned to game action after nearly two years, Rudolph replaced backup Mitch Trubisky during the final minutes of the Week 15 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Since then, he has been taking first-team reps in practice and started against the Bengals in the following week. Rudolph's consistency in practice has allowed him to build confidence, and he is determined to continue his positive trajectory.

Meanwhile, the Steelers have ruled out safeties Trenton Thompson and Minkah Fitzpatrick, as well as inside linebacker Elandon Roberts for the upcoming game against the Seahawks.

As Sunday approaches, all eyes will be on Mason Rudolph as he aims to lead the Steelers to another victory. With Kenny Pickett's availability uncertain, Rudolph's continued success will play a vital role in determining the team's success.
