In an unexpected move, the Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated linebacker Myles Jack and safety Eric Rowe from the practice squad to the Active/Inactive Roster for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. This decision showcases the team's confidence in their abilities and provides them with valuable game-time experience.
Myles Jack, who joined the practice squad on November 20, has already made an impact in his previous elevation during Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals. In that game, he demonstrated his defensive prowess by recording six tackles and sacking the quarterback. Jack's experience with the Philadelphia Eagles and his previous tenure with the Steelers in the 2022 season make him a familiar face among the team.
During his stint with the Steelers in 2022, Jack played in 15 games, starting 13 of them. He finished the season as the team's leading tackler with 104 tackles, 61 of which were solo stops. Jack also contributed with three tackles for a loss and three passes defensed, showcasing his versatility and ability to disrupt opposing offenses.
Eric Rowe, who is currently in his ninth season, was also signed to the practice squad on November 20. Similar to Jack, Rowe was elevated during the Week 16 game against the Bengals, where he made his first interception as a member of the Steelers. Rowe's experience with teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, and Carolina Panthers brings a wealth of knowledge and diverse skills to the Steelers' defense.
Rowe's rookie season with the Eagles saw him playing in 16 games, with five starts. He made an impact by contributing 31 tackles, five passes defensed, and an interception. After his time with the Eagles, Rowe spent three seasons with the Patriots, playing in 21 games and starting 12 of them. He recorded 50 tackles in New England and added an interception to his resume.
Rowe then joined the Miami Dolphins in 2019 and spent four seasons with the team. He played in 62 games, with 38 starts, and accumulated 300 tackles, including six tackles for a loss. Rowe also showcased his ball-hawking abilities with three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown, and two sacks.
The elevation of Jack and Rowe from the practice squad highlights the Steelers' commitment to making strategic roster moves to enhance their chances of success. After the game against the Seahawks, both players will revert back to the practice squad, where they will continue to develop their skills and contribute to the team's progress.
