In a heartwarming turn of events, Kansas City Chiefs' player Jason Kelce has vowed to return a special luchador mask worn during the Super Bowl celebrations to its rightful owner, 8th-grader Elijah Smith. The mask unwittingly belonged to Elijah, a dedicated Kansas City fan, and it gained quite the attention after being spotted in various social media photos.

After Elijah's family, who reside in Dallas, reached out to Kelce on Friday morning, the seven-time Pro-Bowler responded with enthusiasm. Kelce took to social media to announce "Operation 'Get Elijah His Mask Back' is underway." Expressing his gratitude, Kelce stated, "I appreciate everyone bringing this to my attention and look forward to reuniting Elijah with his mask once again. Your mask indeed brings great fortune, I owe you big time, sorry it was commandeered."

Elijah revealed that he had given the mask to Kelce before they posed for a picture together. He explained, "Then I got a picture with him wearing it, and then I just hung out next to them for five to 10 minutes. They were dancing and everything." However, despite his attempt to retrieve the mask with a friend, the overwhelming crowd made it impossible for Elijah to get Kelce's attention.

To Elijah's surprise, he later saw videos on Instagram of Kelce wearing the mask at subsequent after-parties. It became evident that Kelce had not taken it off throughout the night, cementing the mask's significance in the Super Bowl celebrations.

On the recent episode of Kelce's podcast, "New Heights," where he co-hosts with his younger brother and Chiefs star tight end, Travis Kelce, Jason shared how the mask made the night even more memorable for him. In his version of events, Jason claimed to have found the luchador mask on the floor at the Chiefs' after-party. His discovery of the mask had a transformative effect on the unforgettable evening.

While Elijah and his parents, Thad and Sarah, intend to keep the mask as a good luck charm for the upcoming season, the young fan hopes to receive another autograph in exchange. Sarah Smith expressed joy at her son's excitement, saying, "He was happy. He was excited. There was so much celebrating going on and dancing. And you couldn't help but be excited. At the end of the day, we were all celebrating a Super Bowl win."

Kelce's presence at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, supporting his brother Travis as the Chiefs secured their third Super Bowl win in five seasons, further highlights the unity and support within the Kelce family.

As Jason Kelce sets out on his mission to return Elijah Smith's cherished Super Bowl mask, this heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the camaraderie and goodwill that can arise in the world of sports.
