Toronto - Pop sensation Justin Bieber made a splash at the NHL All-Star Weekend, captivating fans both on and off the ice. The Canadian singer, along with fellow celebrity captains Michael Bublé, Will Arnett, and Tate McRae, took part in the highly-anticipated event.
Bieber's involvement in the weekend's festivities began with a memorable performance at a party he hosted earlier in the week. But the highlight came when he laced up his skates and hit the ice prior to the 3-on-3 tournament on Saturday.
"It's been a minute - it's so fun, though," Bieber expressed his excitement while in motion on the ice. "This is a dream come true for me."
During warm-ups, Bieber had the opportunity to interact with some of the NHL's brightest stars. He took a photo with reigning MVP and skills competition champion Connor McDavid, exchanged words with Elias Pettersson, and even received a playful inquiry from Sergei Bobrovsky about his level of participation.
"No, just for warm-ups," Bieber clarified. "Otherwise, I'll get hurt."
Bieber's presence on the ice was met with enthusiasm from the players, particularly All-Star 3-on-3 MVP Auston Matthews, who appreciated the unique experience Bieber brought to the event.
"Everybody enjoyed it - he obviously really enjoyed it," said Matthews. "It was a cool moment for him to get on the ice and skate with a couple of the guys. I think everybody got a kick out of that."
Adding to the excitement, Bieber sported a distinctive Super Mario Brothers-inspired mushroom coat behind the bench during the game. The coat was a playful nod to Bublé, who humorously claimed after the player draft that he was on mushrooms.
The lighthearted atmosphere continued as players joked about Boston Bruins coach Jim Montgomery donning the mushroom coat, but ultimately Bieber held onto his unique attire.
"We were loving it," Matthews commented. "If you were up high in the stands, there's no doubt you could pick him out of a crowd easily."
Bieber's involvement in the NHL All-Star Weekend brought a touch of stardom to the ice, as fans and players alike relished the memorable moments he shared with the hockey community.
