In an effort to strengthen their team, the New York Jets have made two significant signings. The team has elevated quarterback Trevor Siemian to the active roster and added cornerback Craig James to their practice squad.

Siemian, standing at 6-3 and weighing 220 pounds, initially joined the Jets' practice squad on September 26. With six seasons of NFL experience under his belt, Siemian has proven himself as a capable starter, having played 30 games and throwing for an impressive 7,027 yards. He has recorded 42 touchdowns and 27 interceptions throughout his career. During his time with the Bears last season, Siemian showcased his skills by completing 15 of 26 passes for 184 yards, with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. His NFL journey started in 2015 as a seventh-round pick for the Broncos, where he had a successful stint, completing 13 wins and 11 losses as a starter while totaling 30 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. Siemian had previously joined the Jets in 2019 as a backup for Sam Darnold but unfortunately suffered a season-ending ankle injury in a game against the Browns on Monday Night Football. After departing from the Jets, Siemian later signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in March but was released on August 29th.

Joining Siemian is cornerback Craig James, who signed with the Jets' practice squad on October 3. Standing at 5-10 and weighing 195 pounds, James has had experience with multiple teams including the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles, before landing with the Jets. He initially entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Vikings in 2018 after playing college football at Southern Illinois. Although he only appeared in two games for the Jets this season and took part in 42 snaps, James offers valuable defensive prowess. Throughout his career, he has recorded 18 tackles, 2 pass defenses, and 1 fumble recovery during regular-season play.

These signings demonstrate the Jets' commitment to strengthening their roster and providing depth in key positions. With Trevor Siemian adding his expertise and experience as a quarterback, and Craig James bolstering the team's defensive capabilities, the Jets hope to see positive results on the field. The inclusion of these talented players promises to bring an added layer of competitiveness to the team in their upcoming matchups.
