In a move aimed at bolstering their offensive line, the New York Jets have made a strategic signing, bringing in veteran free agent offensive guard Rodger Saffold to their practice squad. The news was reported by renowned NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Saffold's addition to the Jets' practice squad comes with the intention of promoting him to their active roster in the near future. This decision was likely influenced by his previous successful stint playing under Jets' offensive line coach Keith Carter during their time together with the Tennessee Titans.

Having earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection last season as a member of the Buffalo Bills, Saffold showcased his prowess at left guard by starting all 16 games. The 13-year veteran lineman is well-versed in various positions along the offensive line, having effectively played both left tackle and right guard over the course of his career. Selected as a second-round pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2010 NFL Draft, Saffold spent nine productive seasons with the Rams, three with the Titans, and most recently, one with the Bills.
