MINNEAPOLIS -- The New Orleans Saints suffered a string of injuries in their 27-19 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Quarterback Derek Carr and wide receiver Michael Thomas both left the game early, while cornerback Marshon Lattimore also joined the list of injured players.

Carr's departure came late in the third quarter when he took a high and low hit from Vikings defensive linemen Danielle Hunter and Jaquelin Roy. As a result, Carr suffered a right shoulder injury and a concussion. This marked the second time this season that Carr has left a game early due to injury. Previously, he sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder in a Week 3 loss against the Green Bay Packers.

Thomas, who had participated in just one offensive drive, left the game with a knee injury. He took a hard hit while attempting to catch a pass and subsequently went to the medical tent for evaluation. After an extended period in the tent, Thomas emerged on the sideline in a baseball cap, attempting to stretch out his left knee. Despite his efforts, Thomas was unable to return to the game.

In addition to Carr and Thomas, the Saints also lost cornerback Marshon Lattimore in the fourth quarter. Lattimore was carted off the field with an ankle injury, further adding to the team's injury woes.

It is worth noting that Thomas's appearance in Sunday's game came just two days after his arrest in Kenner, Louisiana, on charges of simple battery and criminal mischief. The incident involved an altercation with a construction worker near Thomas' residence, who accused him of throwing a brick at his windshield. Thomas was booked without incident and released a few hours later, joining the team for their flight to Minnesota.

Prior to this game, Thomas had experienced a string of injuries, limiting him to just 10 regular-season games between 2020 and 2022. However, he had managed to play in each game this season until now.

The Saints will now enter their bye week, providing them with the opportunity to regroup and recover from these injuries. The team will need to assess the severity of Carr, Thomas, and Lattimore's injuries and determine their availability for future games.
