The 61-year-old owner has been noticeably absent from public appearances and post-game events for the past few weeks, prompting inquiries from local media about his whereabouts.

Irsay, known for being one of the most visible and interactive owners in the NFL, was scheduled to perform with his band, the Jim Irsay Band, in Los Angeles this week. The event was also intended to showcase his traveling collection of memorabilia. However, due to his illness, his appearance had to be canceled.

Jim Irsay took over the reins of the Indianapolis Colts in 1995, after his late father, Robert, suffered a stroke. When his father passed away in 1997, Irsay became the youngest owner in the NFL at the age of 37. Despite being in a position of influence, Irsay has faced health challenges throughout his life.

One of the most publicized incidents involving Irsay's health was when he was arrested in 2014 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. In a recent interview with HBO, he revealed that he had failed a field sobriety test due to his recovery from hip surgery.

Apart from his personal struggles, Irsay has also been actively involved in philanthropy. He has contributed to various initiatives, including the Irsay Family YMCA, Riley Hospital for Children, and Indiana University's Irsay Research Institute. His frequent interactions with the community through charitable donations have earned him a reputation for generosity.

The Colts organization remains tight-lipped about the specifics of Irsay's respiratory illness and the duration of his treatment. However, fans and members of the Indianapolis community are sending their well-wishes to the influential owner, hoping for a speedy recovery.
