Sources close to Jackson Arnold, the highly sought-after 2023 quarterback recruit, have revealed that it would be surprising to see him leave the Oklahoma football program despite the recent departure of offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby. Arnold is considered a crucial part of the team's future plans and is highly regarded by the coaching staff.

Speculation arose regarding Arnold's status after the announcement that Jeff Lebby has accepted the head coaching job at Mississippi State. The talented quarterback, hailing from Denton, Texas, was a five-star prospect and ranked as the 10th player overall in his class, as well as the top-ranking player in Texas. He was a significant acquisition for new head coach Brent Venables in his first full recruiting cycle.

During his time at Denton Guyer High School, Arnold showcased his skills by throwing for an impressive 7,537 yards and 57 touchdowns, while also amassing 1,807 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns on the ground. Arnold made his college debut as a true freshman, appearing in five games and forfeiting his redshirt status. He particularly stood out in a game against BYU, where he replaced the injured Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel at halftime. Arnold completed 18 of 24 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns, while also gaining 78 yards rushing.

Lebby played a pivotal role in Arnold's recruitment, fostering a strong bond with the young quarterback. Arnold believed that Lebby's offensive system aligned perfectly with his skills, similar to his high school program.

Although Lebby's departure raises questions about Arnold's future, sources indicate that the coaching staff at Oklahoma remains determined to retain the talented quarterback. Arnold is viewed as the cornerstone of the program's future success, making it unlikely for him to seek opportunities elsewhere at this juncture.

As Oklahoma navigates the coaching transition, all eyes will be on Jackson Arnold, whose potential impact and development as the quarterback of the future will undoubtedly shape the team's fortunes in the coming seasons.
