In a positive turn of events for former Pittsburgh Steelers Hines Ward and James Harrison, the results of the Pro Football Hall of Fame voting for the Class of 2024 have opened up opportunities for their induction in the future. While no former Steelers were selected for this year's class, the selection of two pass rushers and a wide receiver bodes well for Ward and Harrison in the upcoming Class of 2025.

Both Ward and Harrison were named semifinalists for the Class of 2024, making it to the list of 25 candidates. However, they did not make the final 15, keeping them out of the Hall of Fame for at least another year. Yet, the voting outcome this season indicates a better chance for their induction next year.

Harrison, who spent 14 seasons with the Steelers, showcased an impressive career with 80.5 sacks, 811 tackles, 34 forced fumbles, and eight interceptions, along with a Defensive Player of the Year award in 2008. He played a crucial role in the team's success, including two Super Bowl victories and four Super Bowl appearances.

With the addition of defensive ends Julius Peppers and Dwight Freeney, linebackers Patrick Willis and Randy Gradishar, wide receiver Andre Johnson, return specialist Devin Hester, and defensive lineman Steve McMichael to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2024, the logjam at the Hall of Fame has loosened, opening up opportunities for future inductees like Harrison.

Ward, a highly respected wide receiver, accumulated an impressive career with 1,000 receptions, 12,083 receiving yards, and 85 touchdowns. Known for his exceptional blocking skills, Ward played 14 seasons with the Steelers and was an integral part of their success, including two Super Bowl victories.

While Ward still faces stiff competition from receivers like Anquan Boldin, Torry Holt, Steve Smith Sr., and Reggie Wayne, the selection of Andre Johnson for the Class of 2024 improves Ward's chances in the Class of 2025.

Looking ahead, the Class of 2025 could feature notable first-year eligible candidates such as Terrell Suggs and Cameron Wake. While Suggs holds a remarkable resume, Harrison's strong case and impressive career make him a worthy contender for induction.

As the countdown continues for the Steelers' Week 1 matchup against the Bengals, both Ward and Harrison now have a better shot at securing their place in the prestigious Pro Football Hall of Fame. Their contributions to the game and their impact on the Steelers' success make them deserving candidates for the Class of 2025.
