In a recent interview with 247Sports, former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord announced that he will be transferring to Syracuse University for the 2024 season. McCord, who left Ohio State two weeks ago, disclosed that he is down to "two or three schools" and will be making his decision public "over the next few days."

The news of McCord's commitment to Syracuse came after Brent Axe of Syracuse.com reported that McCord was planning to join the Syracuse football program, with an official announcement expected to be made on Sunday. McCord's visit to Syracuse over the weekend further solidified his interest in the university.

Expressing his positive experience at Syracuse during his official visit, McCord mentioned his admiration for new Syracuse coach Fran Brown, stating, "I like (Fran Brown) a lot and have known him for a while. The comfort level is definitely there."

When questioned about his departure from Ohio State, McCord chose not to disclose any specific reasons. However, it is believed that his decision stemmed from uncertainty regarding his role as the starting quarterback for the 2024 season, as Ohio State head coach Ryan Day did not commit to McCord in that position.

With the current starting quarterback at Syracuse, Garrett Shrader, set to exhaust his eligibility, McCord is seeking a guaranteed starting opportunity at his new school. Syracuse seems to provide the perfect fit for McCord, where he will have the chance to lead the team on the field.

McCord's commitment to Syracuse marks his transition from being a Buckeye to becoming an Orange. He joins the growing list of Ohio State players who have recently transferred to new schools, including running backs Evan Pryor (Cincinnati) and Chip Trayanum (Kentucky), as well as defensive backs Ryan Turner (Boston College) and Kye Stokes (Cincinnati).

The addition of McCord to Syracuse's football program brings excitement and anticipation for the 2024 season. With his talent and experience, McCord could play a pivotal role in the team's success as they aim to make their mark in the college football landscape.

It is now official: Kyle McCord is ready to make a lasting impact as the newest member of the Syracuse football family.
