According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Tom Telesco, the former General Manager of the Los Angeles Chargers, is set to interview with the Las Vegas Raiders for their vacant General Manager position. Telesco was relieved of his duties along with head coach Brandon Staley on December 15th, following a 63-21 loss to the Raiders on Thursday Night Football.
Telesco had been with the Chargers since 2013, overseeing the team's operations and player acquisitions. During his tenure, the Chargers achieved a record of 84-92 and made the playoffs three times, earning two playoff victories. Telesco's leadership spanned three head coaching regimes, including Mike McCoy (2013-2016), Anthony Lynn (2018-2020), and Staley (2021-2023).
Before joining the Chargers, Telesco spent 14 years with the Indianapolis Colts from 1998 to 2012. He started as an area scout and worked his way up to the position of Vice President of Football Operations. His experience and success with the Colts likely contributed to him being considered for the Raiders' General Manager role.
The Raiders have reportedly reached out to multiple executives for interviews as they search for a new General Manager. Additionally, interim General Manager Champ Kelly is said to be a strong candidate for the full-time position. The Raiders are looking for a leader who can bring stability and success to the organization as they aim for future playoff runs.
The interview with Telesco suggests that the Raiders are exploring various options and considering experienced candidates to guide the team's front office. Telesco's background, playoff experience, and extensive knowledge of the game make him a compelling choice for the Raiders' General Manager position.
The Raiders' search for a new General Manager is ongoing, and fans eagerly await news of who will ultimately lead the team into the future.
