Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman has announced his decision to forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility and enter the NFL Draft, according to 247Sports. Additionally, Coleman will not be participating in the upcoming Orange Bowl.
The talented receiver made an immediate impact after transferring to FSU from Michigan State. In his first game with the Seminoles, Coleman showcased his skills, recording nine catches for 122 yards and three touchdowns in a season-opening victory against the LSU Tigers. His partnership with quarterback Jordan Travis proved to be a formidable force for opposing defenses, as Coleman consistently posed a big-play threat.
During his time at Florida State, Coleman compiled an impressive stat line, amassing 50 catches for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns. His contributions on special teams were noteworthy as well, returning 25 punts for an additional 700 yards. With these achievements, Coleman has secured his place as one of the top wide receivers in the history of the FSU football program.
Coleman's departure comes as no surprise, as it was always his intention to spend just one season in Tallahassee before testing the waters of the NFL. The young receiver is expected to be selected in the first round of the draft, with various mock drafts predicting him as a potential top 10 pick.
Before his time at FSU, Coleman had a successful tenure at Michigan State, where he appeared in 22 games, making 65 receptions for 848 yards and eight touchdowns. In 2022, he was named to the third-team All-Big Ten after an impressive season of 58 catches for 798 yards and seven touchdowns. His receiving yardage and touchdown numbers ranked sixth in the conference, while his total receptions placed him eighth. Coleman also demonstrated his ability to make big plays, ranking fourth in the Big Ten with 15 catches of at least 20 yards. Notably, he achieved a career-high of 155 yards on five catches against No. 4 Michigan, recording the third-highest receiving yardage against the Wolverines in the history of the series.
Throughout his high school career in Louisiana, Coleman showcased his athleticism beyond the football field. He excelled in basketball and track and field, earning recognition as a two-time all-state selection in basketball and leading his team to the regional final round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
With his remarkable talent and impressive track record, Keon Coleman has now set his sights on the NFL, where he hopes to make a significant impact. NFL scouts and fans alike eagerly await the upcoming draft to see where his promising career will take him.
