In a last-minute trade ahead of the trade deadline, the Philadelphia Eagles have announced that they are sending defensive tackle Kentavius Street to the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons, in return, will send a 2024 sixth-round pick to the Eagles while also acquiring a 2025 seventh-round pick.
Street, who signed a one-year deal with the Falcons in March, has been a valuable asset for Atlanta this season. The defensive tackle has appeared in all eight games and even made one start during his time with the Eagles. In those appearances, Street recorded four tackles.
Prior to joining Philadelphia, Street showcased his skills in 52 games for the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers. During his time with these teams, he tallied an impressive 71 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
The timing of this trade couldn't have been better for the Falcons. Just a day before the deal, Atlanta suffered a major blow with the loss of Grady Jarrett, who tore his ACL. This left a significant void on their defensive line, making the need for additional help apparent.
By acquiring Kentavius Street, the Falcons hope to bolster their defensive prowess and address the immediate gaps left by Jarrett's absence. Street's experience and track record make him a valuable addition to Atlanta's roster.
As for the Eagles, the trade allows them to secure future draft assets. The inclusion of the 2024 sixth-round pick and the 2025 seventh-round pick will provide them with the opportunity to strengthen their team in the upcoming years.
With the trade deadline approaching, teams across the NFL are making strategic moves to enhance their chances of success. The Eagles and Falcons are no exception, each making deals that serve their respective long-term goals.
As the dust settles, only time will tell how this trade proves to be a win-win or favor one team over the other. Nonetheless, both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons are eager to make the most of this transaction and continue their pursuit of a successful season.
