The Detroit Lions are gearing up for their Annual Thanksgiving Day Game against the Green Bay Packers with a couple of changes to their defensive front seven. They have activated defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike for the first time since Week 6, while making outside linebacker Julian Okwara inactive for the matchup.

Onwuzurike, a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has been recovering from a hip injury that has limited his practice time. However, he was cleared from the practice report this week, and the Lions are eager to give him an opportunity to make an impact on the field.

Meanwhile, Okwara's playing time has dwindled in recent weeks, with him seeing just 12 snaps against the Bears on Sunday. Throughout the season, Okwara has recorded six tackles and two sacks. With Onwuzurike's activation, the Lions may have opted for a different defensive strategy to counter the absence of Packers running back Aaron Jones.

In addition to these changes, defensive linemen Isaiah Buggs and Brodric Martin are also inactive for the game. To bolster their defensive line, the Lions have elevated veteran defensive lineman Quinton Bohanna from the practice squad for the second consecutive week. Bohanna made an impact in the previous game, recording two tackles and a tackle for loss in the team's victory over the Chicago Bears.

While the Lions make adjustments to their defensive front, they will also be without their starting left guard, Jonah Jackson, for the second consecutive game. Jackson has been sidelined with a wrist injury since Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers. In his absence, rookie Colby Sorsdal filled the starting role against the Bears, and it remains to be seen if he will be given the nod once again.

Rounding out the list of inactive players for the Lions are wide receiver Antoine Green, cornerback Steven Gilmore, and linebacker Trevor Nowaske.

With changes on both sides of the ball, the Lions are prepared to face the Packers in this highly anticipated Thanksgiving Day matchup. As kickoff approaches, fans are eager to see how the lineup adjustments and the return of Onwuzurike will impact the Lions' defensive performance.
