In an unfortunate turn of events, Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson has once again found himself in hot water. He has been suspended for four games by the NFL due to a hit on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs during Sunday's game. This is Jackson's second suspension in as many months, and the league has shown their strict stance on player safety by bringing down the hammer on him.

The incident occurred just two minutes into the game when Jackson, who has been with the Broncos for five seasons, lowered his helmet to make the hit on Dobbs, who lined up as a running back on the play. This was Jackson's first tackle since returning from his previous suspension. Although no penalty was assessed during the game, the league took action after reviewing the footage.

NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan notified Jackson of the suspension in a letter, stating that the hit was a serious violation of the playing rules. According to Runyan, Jackson had an unobstructed path to Dobbs but chose to make forcible contact with his opponent in a way that could have been avoided. The league emphasized that acts that jeopardize player safety will not be tolerated, specifically highlighting the rule against using the helmet to make forcible contact.

Jackson intends to appeal the suspension, as reported by ESPN. However, his history this season has not been favorable when it comes to player safety. Earlier in the year, he received a four-game suspension for a hit on Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave, which was later reduced to two games on appeal. Additionally, Jackson has incurred four fines for unnecessary roughness and has been ejected from two games.

These incidents have generated a reputation for Jackson as a dirty player, but his teammates have defended him against such accusations. Following the announcement of the suspension, Justin Simmons, a fellow Broncos teammate, took to social media to express his disbelief. Simmons argued that Dobbs, who was playing running back during the play, was not defenseless and that it was a 3rd-and-1 situation where players are fighting for every yard.

As Jackson prepares to serve his four-game suspension without pay, the Broncos will have to adjust their defense strategy in his absence. His return to the field will be eagerly anticipated by both the team and fans alike. In the meantime, the league's emphasis on player safety continues as they enforce strict penalties against actions that could potentially harm fellow players.
