Dan Quinn's Head Coaching Interviews Exclude Seattle Seahawks for Now

Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is poised to move on from the team after a disappointing end to their playoff run. Following the Cowboys' 48-32 loss against the Green Bay Packers, Quinn has already secured interviews with four teams seeking a new head coach. However, there is one notable absence from his list: the Seattle Seahawks.
Quinn has scheduled interviews with the Carolina Panthers and the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday, the Washington Commanders on Thursday, and the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday. All the interviews will be conducted remotely via Zoom, as reported by Albert Breer. Although it remains possible that Quinn may interview with the Seattle Seahawks next week or at a later date this week, it is currently unknown when movement will occur on that front.
Considering Quinn's successful stint as the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks from 2013 to 2014, which included two Super Bowl appearances and a championship win, it is unsurprising that he has been heavily linked to a potential reunion with the team. However, the Cowboys' recent defeat, in which they were dominated by the Packers' offense led by disciple of Sean McVay, Matt LaFleur, may raise questions about Quinn's ability to revitalize the Seahawks' defense.
Although the Cowboys' defense has consistently ranked among the top 10 during Quinn's tenure, this year's team had some notable struggles against the Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. Despite this, one poor game is unlikely to be a deal-breaker for NFL teams seeking a new head coach. An example of this is when the Detroit Lions hired defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, even after his New England Patriots allowed 538 yards and 41 points in a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
It is expected that Quinn will secure another head coaching position in the near future, despite the disappointing result against the Packers. Additionally, the uncertain job security of Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy may also prompt Quinn to explore opportunities outside of Dallas. As the days progress, it remains to be seen whether the Seahawks will join the list of teams vying for Quinn's services.
