According to sources, Vogt has agreed to a three-year deal, although the club has yet to confirm the specifics.

The Guardians embarked on an extensive interview process, evaluating esteemed candidates such as Brewers manager Craig Counsell, Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza, and Dodgers first-base coach Clayton McCullough. Their objective was to find a person who not only aligned with the organization's established values but also brought a fresh perspective to challenge the team's mindset.

Among the more than 40 names considered by the Guardians, Stephen Vogt emerged as the standout choice. Chris Antonetti, the Guardians' president of baseball operations, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We're thrilled to welcome Stephen and his family to Northeast Ohio and to name him the next manager of the Cleveland Guardians." Antonetti also praised Vogt's reputation as an exceptional teammate throughout his 16-year playing career.

Vogt, who retired from playing after the 2022 season, had set his sights on becoming a major league manager. The 39-year-old joined the Mariners as the bullpen and quality control coach for the 2023 season. When various managerial positions became available across Major League Baseball, Vogt eagerly threw his name into consideration for as many opportunities as he could.

Throughout his career, Vogt became beloved by each coaching staff he encountered. Having played for the A's for six seasons, as well as stints with the D-backs, Rays, Giants, Braves, and Brewers, Vogt has an impressive baseball IQ. His leadership qualities were evident in every clubhouse he entered, much like Terry Francona, the Guardians' former manager.

Francona, who holds the record for the most wins by a Cleveland skipper (921), left behind a substantial legacy. After 11 seasons, the Guardians now turn to Vogt, who embraces the challenge from a different position. Francona arrived in Cleveland with extensive managerial experience and two World Series rings. Vogt, on the other hand, offers a fresh perspective and an ability to connect with players of all ages through his sense of humor.

The Guardians are hopeful that Vogt's deep care for others, his aptitude for building meaningful relationships, and his open-mindedness and curiosity will make him an ideal fit to lead the club into the future. With a young and talented group of players, Vogt's approach may prove to be the perfect match for the Cleveland Guardians.

As Vogt assumes his new role as the 45th manager, anticipation grows among fans and players alike. The franchise looks forward to the upcoming season under the leadership of their newest addition, Stephen Vogt.
