In their search for a new offensive coordinator, the Chicago Bears have turned their focus to the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff. Following an earlier report that the Bears scheduled an interview with Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, it has now been revealed that they have completed an interview with Seahawks quarterbacks coach Greg Olson.
Olson, who replaced Dave Canales as the Seahawks' QB coach last offseason, brings a wealth of experience as an offensive coordinator. He has held that position with the Oakland Raiders on two separate occasions, in addition to short stints with the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, St. Louis Rams, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bears' decision to retain head coach Matt Eberflus for another season, following a strong finish to their 7-10 campaign, means they are now focused on revamping the offensive coaching staff. Luke Getsy, the former offensive coordinator, and his staff were let go, creating a vacancy for Olson to potentially fill.
The Bears find themselves at a crucial juncture, particularly when it comes to the quarterback position. With Justin Fields showing promise, but his fifth-year option not yet picked up, the team faces a pivotal decision. Holding the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, there is speculation that the Bears may choose to draft a quarterback if they are not fully committed to another season with Fields leading the offense.
In Seattle, the departure of head coach Pete Carroll means that his coaching staff is now free to explore other job opportunities. While there is a possibility that the new head coach may retain some members of Carroll's staff, many expect a complete overhaul within the organization.
The Bears' interview with Olson showcases their commitment to finding the right candidate to drive their offense forward. As the search continues, Chicago fans eagerly await the team's final decision on who will take on the responsibility of guiding the Bears' offense in the upcoming season.
