In a Sunday afternoon showdown, the Arizona Cardinals have extended their lead even further over the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, severe weather conditions in Pittsburgh have resulted in a second delay during the game.
The Cardinals managed to secure a commanding advantage after a turnover. Running back James Conner drove the ball into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown, giving Arizona a 17-3 lead.
Pittsburgh faced additional setbacks when backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky, filling in for the injured Kenny Pickett, fumbled a low shotgun snap deep within Steelers' territory. The Cardinals were quick to recover the loose ball, earning an extra possession with a starting position at the Steelers' 21-yard line.
Despite Pittsburgh's defense's effort, the Cardinals were able to sustain the drive with the help of a defensive pass interference penalty on third-and-goal from the Pittsburgh 8-yard line. As the penalty occurred in the end zone, the ball was moved to the 1-yard line. A few plays later, James Conner powered through the middle for another touchdown.
Conner's impressive performance included 34 yards gained on 15 carries so far in the game.
Adding to the Cardinals' challenges, they also face an injury concern at the receiver position. Marquise Brown is currently questionable to return to the game due to a heel injury.
This isn't the first delay the game has experienced due to inclement weather. The start of the second half was previously delayed due to lightning in the surrounding area.
Once play resumes, there will be 7 minutes and 18 seconds left in the third quarter to determine the outcome of this exhilarating match between the Cardinals and the Steelers.
