An arrest warrant has been issued for Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller following allegations of assault made by his pregnant girlfriend on Wednesday, confirmed Dallas Police. The incident occurred during a verbal argument between the 34-year-old NFL player, whose full name is Vonnie Miller, and the victim.
According to the preliminary investigation, Miller physically assaulted his girlfriend and fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement officers. Consequently, an arrest warrant has been issued for assault on a pregnant person, which is considered a third-degree felony. Further details about the alleged assault have not been disclosed at this time.
Although the victim did not require hospitalization, she received minor injury treatment at the scene, as confirmed by the police. The couple, who have two children together, have yet to issue a statement in response to the accusation.
Von Miller boasts an impressive football career, having won two Super Bowl championships with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams. Hailing from the Dallas suburb of DeSoto, Miller played college football at Texas A&M. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and has since achieved remarkable success, earning eight Pro Bowl selections and being named to the first team three times. In 2022, Miller signed with the Buffalo Bills ahead of the current NFL season.
As the Bills are currently on a bye week, it remains uncertain what Miller's status will be with the team. Typically, NFL players accused of domestic violence are placed on the commissioner's exempt list, rendering them ineligible to play while the allegation is under investigation.
The Buffalo Bills organization released a statement in response to the incident, stating that they are gathering more information and will refrain from commenting further at this time.
Notably, in 2021, Miller was previously investigated for domestic violence but was not charged in the case. The Dallas Police have stated that the investigation into the current allegation is still ongoing, as they continue to collect evidence and gather information.
