In a surprising turn of events, the Atlanta Falcons recently reached an agreement with Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris to be their new head coach, leaving former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick without a potential landing spot. Belichick had interviewed for the Falcons opening, which was considered by many as his favored destination. Now, with that opportunity gone, speculation arises about where Belichick could find his next coaching gig.

Currently, there are only two head coaching positions left vacant in the NFL. One of them is with the Washington Commanders, where Josh Harris is at the helm and Adam Peters takes the role of the new general manager. Initially, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was viewed as the favorite for the Commanders job, but he recently announced his decision to stay with the Lions. Could Washington reconsider and pursue Belichick for the position?

The other team still searching for a head coach is the Seattle Seahawks. While NBC Sports report indicated that the Seahawks may consider a late push for Belichick, the idea of replacing a 72-year-old coach with a 71-year-old doesn't seem logical. Nevertheless, the Seahawks present an attractive opportunity, with a talented quarterback in Russell Wilson, a promising running back, and a solid defense.

Returning to the AFC East, there is speculation whether a former rival team, the New York Jets, could be interested in Belichick. The Jets had a tumultuous 2023 season, and although their current head coach Robert Saleh reportedly remains safe, there could be room for change. The Buffalo Bills are another team that might be enticed by the prospect of Belichick coaching against his former team twice a year, as they aim to break their postseason slump.

While some may believe a year off could be in the cards for the 70-year-old coaching legend, it appears that Belichick is not considering retirement just yet. With 26 regular-season wins away from tying Don Shula's record and 14 wins short of equaling Shula's overall victories including playoffs, Belichick seems determined to continue his pursuit of NFL history. There is a possibility that he may spend some time as a consultant for Jerry Jones before eventually taking over as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in 2024, replacing Mike McCarthy.

As the NFL coaching carousel continues to spin, it remains to be seen where Belichick will ultimately find his next home. With potential opportunities in Washington, Seattle, or even within the AFC East, Belichick's coaching prowess will undoubtedly be in demand. Fans and experts alike eagerly await the announcement of his next destination as he seeks to cement his status as one of the greatest NFL head coaches of all time.
