In the search for a new head coach, the Tennessee Titans have taken a step forward by completing their first interview in the selection process. Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan was the first candidate to undergo a virtual interview with the team this past Friday.
Callahan, who has been sought after in previous head coaching searches, interviewed for multiple positions last offseason but ultimately decided to remain with the Cincinnati Bengals. With a remarkable 14 seasons of experience in the NFL, Callahan has served as the team's offensive coordinator since 2019. During his time in Cincinnati, Callahan has played a crucial role in the development of quarterback Joe Burrow.
Having started his NFL career as a coaching assistant for the Denver Broncos in 2010, Callahan quickly climbed the ranks within the organization. He was promoted to offensive quality control coach in 2011 and then became an offensive assistant in 2013. Later, Callahan held the position of quarterbacks coach for the Detroit Lions from 2016 to 2017, followed by a stint as quarterbacks coach with the Oakland Raiders in 2018. Eventually, he made his way to the Bengals.
Interestingly, Callahan is the son of the former Oakland Raiders head coach, Bill Callahan, who currently serves as the offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns.
The Titans' decision to interview Callahan showcases their interest in his expertise and ability to lead an offense. As the interview process continues, the team will evaluate a range of candidates in their quest to find the ideal leader for their football program.
