In the latest development surrounding the Atlanta Falcons' coaching situation, the potential partnership with Bill Belichick appears to have lost momentum, according to a report from The Athletic's Josh Kendall. Despite initial signs pointing towards Belichick becoming the new head coach, the Falcons have shifted their focus and are now exploring other coaching options.

The Falcons' approach to the situation is far from a "Belichick or bust" mentality, as reported by Kendall. It seems that the team is open to considering alternative candidates for the head coaching position. Reports indicate that Atlanta plans to conduct a second interview with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh this week, indicating their interest in exploring all available options.

However, it is worth noting that the Falcons' owner, Arthur Blank, expressed a desire to bring in Belichick, with reports of a dinner meeting between the two. CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones even stated that Blank "desperately" wants the eight-time Super Bowl champion to lead the Falcons. This led to speculation that Belichick would be the owner's best chance to secure a marquee coach, something Blank has long coveted.

Blank has a history of pursuing high-profile head coaches. In the past, he pursued Joe Gibbs and Bill Parcells, but was unable to secure their services. Now, with the head coach opening and Belichick as a free agent, Blank is once again exploring his options.

Notably, there are other names still under consideration for the position, according to Kendall. Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, and Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald are among the candidates being evaluated by the Falcons.

While Belichick's potential hiring by the Atlanta Falcons seemed promising initially, it appears that the momentum behind this prospective partnership has waned. With the team now exploring other coaching options, it remains to be seen who will ultimately fill the head coach position for the Falcons.
