FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons will be missing three key starters as they prepare for a crucial divisional showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday. Linebacker Nate Landman, right tackle Kaleb McGary, and defensive tackle David Onyemata will all be sidelined for the upcoming game.
Landman, who is nursing a knee injury, will be replaced in the lineup by Andre Smith Jr., while Storm Norton will step in for the injured McGary, who also sustained a knee injury during last week's victory over the New York Jets.
Onyemata, who has been dealing with injuries for the past few weeks, will be replaced by a combination of players, including Albert Huggins Jr. and Ta'Quon Graham.
In addition to the three starters out, the Falcons have listed five players as questionable for the game. Starting cornerbacks A.J. Terrell and Jeff Okudah are among those listed as questionable. Terrell has been in the concussion protocol but participated fully in practice on Friday. Falcons coach Arthur Smith expressed uncertainty about Terrell's availability for Sunday, stating, "we'll have to see tomorrow" regarding his progress. Okudah, who has been nursing an ankle injury, has been practicing on a limited basis throughout the week.
If Terrell or Okudah are unable to play, the Falcons may turn to veteran Tre Flowers or rookie Clark Phillips III to face the formidable receiving corps of the Buccaneers, led by standout receiver Mike Evans, who has surpassed the 1,000-yard mark this season.
Cornerback Mike Hughes (hand), receiver Mack Hollins (ankle), and starting center Drew Dalman (ankle) are also listed as questionable for the upcoming game. If Dalman is unable to play, Ryan Neuzil will take his place in the lineup.
Meanwhile, the Falcons have made the decision not to activate defensive lineman LaCale London for this week's game. However, they still have two more weeks before the 21-day return-to-play window for London closes.
With several key starters out and uncertainty surrounding the status of some players, the Falcons will have to rely on their depth and adaptability as they face off against the division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The outcome of this pivotal game could have significant implications for the Falcons' playoff aspirations.
