SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Despite a valiant effort by running back Aaron Jones, the Green Bay Packers fell short against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional playoff game at Levi's Stadium. Jones, who registered his fifth consecutive 100-yard rushing game, gave the Packers a fighting chance with his impressive performance.

Jones, who had initially feared an injury would end his season, defied the odds and showcased his speed and agility on the field. With 18 carries for 108 yards, including a 53-yard run in the fourth quarter, Jones ended the 49ers' streak of 50 games without allowing a 100-yard rusher. Despite his efforts, the Packers couldn't secure the upset victory.

Reflecting on the loss, Jones expressed disappointment but believed it came down to execution and not being able to finish strong. However, he commended the 49ers as a great team, emphasizing that they were not necessarily better than the Packers.

Jones' return from a sprained medial collateral ligament earlier in the season was crucial for the Packers' late-season resurgence. In the final five games of the season, Jones contributed an impressive 653 total yards and three touchdowns.

Not only did Jones make an impact on the field, but he also took on a more vocal role in the locker room. With a roster that featured a record-breaking 14 rookies playing in the playoffs, Jones provided leadership and helped foster chemistry among the players.

Although the loss to the 49ers was challenging to accept, Jones expressed pride in the Packers' journey to the NFC Divisional round of the playoffs. Overcoming doubters, the young Green Bay team showcased its potential with three consecutive victories, including a dominant win over the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round.

In another notable moment of the game, Keisean Nixon, the Packers' two-time All-Pro, delivered an impressive 73-yard kickoff return in the third quarter. It was the second-longest postseason kickoff return in Packers history, setting up a touchdown for Green Bay. Despite having the ball punched out, veteran linebacker Eric Wilson quickly recovered it, maintaining possession for the Packers.

For Nixon, this marked the end of a career-defining season. In addition to his special teams contribution, Nixon also made 13 starts as the nickel cornerback for the Packers. He accumulated a career-high 80 tackles, six passes defensed, one interception, and a half sack.

As an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, Nixon expressed his gratitude to the Packers and highlighted his growth as both a person and a football player during his time with the organization.

The Packers now face the offseason with a mix of disappointment and hope after their eventful playoff run. They leave the 2019 season with their heads held high, having defied expectations and playing with a strong sense of camaraderie.
