Injuries have hit the San Francisco 49ers hard at the defensive tackle position in recent weeks, prompting the team to add depth to their roster. On Thursday, the 49ers signed veteran defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth to their practice squad, according to a social media announcement by his agent, Brett Tessler.

Stallworth, 28, brings valuable experience to the team, having appeared in 58 NFL games over six seasons, with two starts to his name. Previously with the Tennessee Titans, Stallworth was released off injured reserve last month after sustaining an injury during the Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Prior to joining the 49ers, Stallworth had also spent time with the Houston Texans and the Carolina Panthers earlier this offseason, showcasing his versatility and ability to adapt to different team environments.

The addition of Stallworth comes as the 49ers are dealing with several injuries at the defensive tackle position. Just recently, second-year defensive tackle Kalia Davis was placed on injured reserve due to a high ankle sprain, requiring him to miss at least four games. However, there is a possibility that Davis might be available for the 49ers in the postseason.

In their Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals, the 49ers were without their starting defensive tackles, Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw. The availability of Armstead, who is recovering from a foot and knee injury, and Kinlaw, who is dealing with a hamstring issue, for the team's upcoming Monday night game against the Baltimore Ravens remains uncertain. Head coach Kyle Shanahan stated that a clearer picture of their availability would only be known later in the week.

The signing of Taylor Stallworth provides the 49ers with a much-needed boost in depth at the defensive tackle position. As they navigate through the challenges posed by injuries, the team remains focused on their upcoming games and hopes to have key players back on the field soon.
