Vin Diesel, known for his iconic roles in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, has been hit with a lawsuit by a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by the actor more than a decade ago. Asta Jonasson, who briefly worked as Diesel's assistant during the filming of "Fast Five" in 2010, filed the lawsuit on Thursday, accusing the actor of groping her, forcibly kissing her, and masturbating in front of her in his hotel room in Atlanta.

According to the lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone, Jonasson alleged that the assault took place just over a week after she was hired by Diesel and his production company, One Race Productions. She further accused One Race of firing her the next day in retaliation for resisting Diesel's advances. The lawsuit lists several causes of action, including sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, with One Race and Diesel's sister, Samantha Vincent, also named as codefendants, facing allegations of retaliation, wrongful termination, and negligent supervision and retention.

The suit highlights the fear and silence that often surround cases of sexual assault, stating, "For years, Ms. Jonasson remained silent, afraid to speak out against one of the world's highest-grossing actors, afraid she would be ostracized from the industry which had a pattern of protecting powerful men and silencing survivors of sexual harassment and assault." The lawsuit further suggests that Jonasson's decision to come forward now is influenced by the #MeToo movement, as well as California's AB2777, which allows certain sexual misconduct claims to be filed in civil court regardless of the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Vin Diesel has not yet responded to the allegations, and a representative for the actor has not issued a comment regarding the lawsuit.

The lawsuit details the events leading up to the alleged assault, stating that Jonasson was hired on September 2, 2010, and flew to Atlanta the same day to assist with the filming of "Fast Five." On September 10, Jonasson was instructed to meet Diesel at the Havana Club, where the actor was partying. After returning with several hostesses to the St. Regis Hotel, Jonasson entered Diesel's suite to deliver a phone call from his security. It was then that Jonasson claims Diesel grabbed her, forcibly hugged her, groped her body, and forcefully kissed her despite her pleas for him to stop.

Jonasson's lawsuit also describes an alleged incident in which Diesel attempted to remove her underwear and masturbated in front of her, while she was pinned against a wall. The suit further states that Jonasson was fired the same day, implying that it was a direct result of her resisting Diesel's advances.

Vin Diesel joins a growing list of notable figures in the entertainment industry who have faced accusations of sexual misconduct as a result of changes in legislation allowing for the revival of older claims. Other individuals facing lawsuits include Sean "Diddy" Combs, Russell Brand, Jamie Foxx, Axl Rose, Jimmy Iovine, and L.A. Reid.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the outcome of the lawsuit will determine the ramifications for Vin Diesel and One Race Productions. The allegations against Diesel highlight the ongoing struggle for accountability and justice in the entertainment industry and serve as a reminder of the importance of the #MeToo movement in empowering survivors to speak out against sexual harassment and assault.
