Play Dirty Finds New Producer as Amazon Replacement Negotiations with Jules Daly Begin

In a surprising turn of events, Amazon is in talks with producer Jules Daly to replace Joel Silver as the producer for the highly-anticipated thriller, Play Dirty. This decision comes after Amazon recently parted ways with Silver amid allegations of verbal abuse.
Joel Silver had been in charge of steering Play Dirty, a film considered a comeback opportunity for both him and well-known writer-director Shane Black. Black, known for his previous works such as "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "The Nice Guys," is set to write and direct Play Dirty for Amazon.
However, it seems Amazon has decided to move forward without Silver's involvement. In addition to his role in Play Dirty, Silver was also producing the Doug Liman-directed remake of the action-packed film, Road House, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Road House has already wrapped up shooting and is currently in post-production, with an expected release date next year.
Amazon MGM Studios has chosen to remain tight-lipped about the situation and declined to comment. According to an insider, Silver has completed his work on Road House and is no longer involved in Play Dirty. The news of Silver's departure was first reported by Variety.
In response to these developments, Joel Silver's attorney, Bryan Freedman, issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, stating that Silver had fulfilled all his obligations on Road House and was not terminated from that project. Freedman also clarified that Silver was not fired or terminated from Play Dirty, as agreed upon by Amazon. He emphasized that such claims were unfounded and defamatory.
Meanwhile, Play Dirty has secured the talented Mark Wahlberg to portray the lead character, Parker, a professional thief. This character has previously been portrayed by the likes of Jason Statham and Mel Gibson in film adaptations of Donald Westlake's novels. Initially, there were talks of Robert Downey Jr. circling the role, but he decided not to star due to the actors' strike earlier this summer. However, Downey remains involved as a producer through his production banner, Team Downey, which he co-runs with his wife, Susan Downey.
Jules Daly, an established producer with an impressive portfolio, including credits on Amazon's sci-fi action flick "The Tomorrow War" and the Brad Pitt Western "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," is now in negotiations to take on the role of producer for Play Dirty. If all goes according to plan, Play Dirty is set to commence shooting next year, bringing together the talented collaboration of Shane Black, Mark Wahlberg, and Jules Daly.
As this thrilling project moves forward, fans eagerly await the release of Play Dirty, expecting another captivating cinematic experience from Shane Black and his team.
