**Amazon Prepares to Roll Out Humanoid Robot Delivery System**

Future Amazon orders may soon be delivered by humanoid robots, according to an exclusive report by The Information. The tech giant is in the advanced stages of developing AI software for robots that could function as package delivery workers. These robots would be transported in Rivian electric vans, ready to jump out and drop packages at customer doorsteps.

An anonymous source connected to the project revealed that Amazon is nearing the completion of an indoor "humanoid park" at one of its San Francisco offices. Comparable in size to a coffee shop, this obstacle-laden course includes a Rivian van. The design is geared toward training humanoid robots to ride in the back of the vans and deliver packages once they arrive at their destination.

This development comes on the heels of Amazon launching a new agentic AI team focused on creating technologies that enable robots to operate within Amazon's distribution and logistics hubs. According to a statement made to Silicon Valley insiders, Amazon is transitioning from rigid, task-specific robots to systems that can "hear, understand, and act on natural language commands," ultimately transforming warehouse robots into versatile, multi-skilled assistants.

Amazon is already experimenting with various types of autonomous robots in its operations. Among these is Agility Robotics' humanoid "Digit," initially conceived for tasks like sitting in the back of vans and making deliveries. Amazon appears committed to transforming this concept into a practical, everyday reality by leveraging its new training facility.

Additionally, The Information reports that Amazon's testing will include a variety of humanoid robots. This includes a $16,000 unit from Unitree, a tech company based in China. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to fully automate delivery operations, from warehouse sorting to the final package drop-off at your front door, a plan hinted at by Amazon's 2020 acquisition of robotaxi company Zoox. Currently, hundreds of thousands of employees manage Amazon's global delivery operations.
