Penélope Cruz Opens Up About Parenting and Career in New Interview

Penélope Cruz, the renowned actress, shared insights into her parenting style and professional career in a recent interview with Elle magazine.

The Hollywood power couple, Cruz and Javier Bardem, have been married since 2010 and have two children, Luna (10) and Leo (12). In the interview, Cruz revealed that she tries to keep her children out of the public eye as much as possible.

Cruz emphasized that she wants her kids to have the freedom to decide whether they want to pursue careers in the spotlight. "It's for them to decide if they are going to have a job that is more exposed to the public or not," she explained. She expressed concerns about the potential manipulation and vulnerabilities that come with being in the public eye, particularly during the formative years of childhood and adolescence.

Despite keeping her children away from the spotlight, Cruz mentioned that their father, Javier Bardem, brings laughter and entertainment into their home with his hilarious impressions.

The talented actress also discussed her long-standing collaboration with director Pedro Almodóvar, who always saw her as a motherly figure. Cruz explained that she has always had a strong instinct for motherhood and knew from a young age that she wanted to have children. She expressed her readiness to embrace motherhood as the most important aspect of her life.

Approaching her 50th birthday in April, Cruz acknowledged that her professional career will increasingly revolve around motherhood-related roles. She shared that around 80 percent of the future characters she portrays will be related to motherhood, divorce, abandonment, or other familial themes. Despite this focus, she is not afraid or ashamed of entering this phase as an actress.

In addition to discussing her personal life, Cruz also touched upon her anticipation about turning 50. She views it as the beginning of the second part of her life and looks forward to cherishing quality time with her children and future grandchildren.

As for the industry's growing use of artificial intelligence (AI), Cruz humorously remarked that while she is not "happy" about it, the technology may help keep her in the industry for a longer time. She emphasized the importance of balancing her career with her family responsibilities.

Cruz's candid interview with Elle offers a glimpse into her parenting philosophy and her optimistic outlook as she embraces the next phase of her life and career.
