Matthew Perry's stepfather, Keith Morrison, has made a heartfelt plea to the public one month after the sudden death of the beloved actor on October 28th. In a post on X (previously known as Twitter), Morrison broke his silence and called for support, particularly highlighting the upcoming Giving Tuesday.
"This is not the sort of thing I commonly do, this pitch," wrote Morrison in his first post since Perry's passing. "But this year is different. And tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. Do what you can; he would have been grateful."
Perry's family also expressed their desire to honor his legacy in the wake of his untimely death. In a statement to Fox News Digital, they stated, "It is important to us, as a family, to honor Matthew's legacy." They revealed the creation of the Matthew Perry Foundation on November 3rd, aimed at assisting those struggling with addiction, a battle Perry himself faced before embracing a sober lifestyle.
"The Matthew Perry Foundation is the realization of Matthew's enduring commitment to helping others struggling with the disease of addiction," stated a mission statement released by the foundation. "It will honor his legacy and be guided by his own words and experiences and driven by his passion for making a difference in as many lives as possible."
Matthew Perry passed away from an apparent drowning at his California home on October 28th, at the age of 54. The cause of death was listed as "deferred" following the completion of his autopsy on October 29th, with toxicology results pending. The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner informed Fox News Digital that an official cause of death may take up to three to six months to be released.
On November 3rd, friends and family of Perry gathered to remember the late actor at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, which is in close proximity to the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California - the filming location of the renowned sitcom "Friends" in which Perry gained fame.
Forest Lawn is a final resting place for numerous Hollywood stars, including Lucille Ball, Andy Gibb, John Ritter, Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher, Paul Walker, Brittany Murphy, and Bob Barker.
As the public reflects on Matthew Perry's legacy and mourns his loss, it is evident that his family and loved ones are dedicated to ensuring that his impact continues through the work of the Matthew Perry Foundation.
