LOS ANGELES (NewsNation) - The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has released Matthew Perry's death certificate, which reveals that the cause of his death is listed as "deferred." A toxicology report conducted earlier was inconclusive, leaving authorities still searching for answers, as reported by E! News.

In October, NBC News reported that further investigation was requested, and a final determination will be made in a report to be released by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

The 54-year-old actor, famously known for his role in the hit sitcom "Friends," was discovered lifeless in a hot tub at his Pacific Palisades residence on October 28. Emergency responders arrived at his home at 4:07 p.m. after receiving a distress call. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Perry was found submerged in the hot tub upon their arrival.

"Firefighters pulled the victim out of the Jacuzzi and conducted a swift medical assessment, confirming his demise," stated the LAFD.

Matthew Perry had been open about his long and well-documented battle with addiction. In his 2022 memoir, he wrote honestly about his struggles, stating, "Hi, my name is Matthew, although you may know me by another name. My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead."

In a joint statement given to NewsNation, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer expressed their profound grief over Perry's passing. They highlighted the deep bond they shared, stating, "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."

In the days following his death, the Matthew Perry Foundation was established to assist individuals grappling with addiction. The foundation aims to honor Perry's legacy through his own words and experiences, driven by his unwavering commitment to help others.

Meanwhile, in Anchorage, Alaska, the struggle to provide shelter for its homeless population intensifies as four individuals tragically lost their lives in the past week. The city is grappling with record-breaking snowfall, with over 2 feet accumulating within 48 hours, further highlighting the urgent need for adequate housing and support systems.

As investigators continue their work to determine the cause of Matthew Perry's untimely death, his friends, colleagues, and fans mourn the loss of a talented actor and advocate for those battling addiction.
