In a report recently published by Vanity Fair, it has been revealed that John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette were embroiled in a heated argument just days before their untimely deaths, discussing a potential lifestyle change that had been a source of tension in their relationship.

According to the report by writer Edward Klein, a close friend of Kennedy's had a conversation with him only two days prior to the tragic plane crash in July 1999. Kennedy shared his frustrations about the disagreement he and Bessette were having regarding starting a family.

"I want to have kids, but whenever I raise the subject with Carolyn, she turns away and refuses to have sex with me," Kennedy lamented to his friend. "And it's not just about sex. It's impossible to talk to Carolyn about anything. We've become like total strangers."

The couple's differing opinions on parenthood had been well-known. Kennedy desired to have children, but Bessette, though she may have considered it in the future, did not wish to have children during their marriage.

Two significant reasons influenced Bessette's stance on the matter. First, she feared becoming a typical Kennedy wife, thrust into the spotlight and constantly scrutinized by the paparazzi. As author Kathy McKeon shared in her book entitled Jackie's Girl: My Life With the Kennedy Family, Bessette expressed her dread of living in a fishbowl and her discomfort with the intense media attention. She questioned how she could bring a child into such a world.

The couple, who had first met in 1992 and started dating in 1994, tied the knot in 1996. Tragically, their lives were cut short in 1999. The argument about parenthood, evident even days before their death, sheds light on the challenges they faced in their relationship.

The untimely deaths of JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette left a void in the hearts of many, and their complex dynamics highlight the struggles that can arise when couples hold differing views on such vital life decisions. Ultimately, their story serves as a reminder of the importance of open and honest communication in navigating the intricacies of a partnership.
