FARGO - A Fargo teen, Ciara Hibl, is currently fighting against a severe case of toxic shock syndrome that developed from a staph infection. In light of the mounting medical expenses, her mother, Jessica Hibl, has turned to GoFundMe for financial assistance.

According to the GoFundMe page, Ciara, 14, was recently diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome and received initial care at Sanford Health. However, her condition worsened, leading to her being transported by air ambulance to the University of Minnesota on Friday, January 5th. There, she underwent surgery to insert a tube into her heart, allowing for the removal and reoxygenation of blood, as stated on the GoFundMe page.

Jessica Hibl, a single mother, shared in the GoFundMe post that she will be unable to work for several weeks as she cares for her daughter. She expressed gratitude for any donations received, which will be used to cover the mounting medical expenses and basic needs. Jessica Hibl also mentioned that sharing the GoFundMe page with friends and family would greatly help their cause.

During a Monday phone interview, Jessica Hibl revealed that her daughter's condition has shown some signs of improvement. Ciara has briefly opened her eyes, but medical personnel have indicated that her hospital stay could be lengthy. At this time, the family's goal may be revised higher once all their medical costs are calculated.

The battle against toxic shock syndrome is an ongoing struggle for Ciara Hibl, as she continues to receive medical care and support from her family and community. The GoFundMe campaign serves as a means to alleviate the financial stress accompanying this challenging journey.
