In an exciting announcement made during Disney's Television Critics Association Press Tour, it has been revealed that the popular Emmy-winning comedy, "Abbott Elementary," will continue to grace our screens for a fourth season. The news was shared by none other than William Stanford Davis, known for his role as the beloved school custodian Mr. Johnson, during the event, as reported by Deadline.

The producers of the show took to social media to express their joy over the renewal, stating, "'Because we all deserve a little more Abbott in our lives. #AbbottElementary will be coming back for Season 4!'" This confirmation comes just days after the highly-anticipated premiere of the show's third season on ABC, which started with a one-hour special episode.

The storyline of the season three premiere cleverly addressed the show's absence from the airwaves, attributing it to a writer and actor strike that halted production over the summer. In a unique twist, the episode explained how the camera crew's equipment was stolen, leaving them unable to resume filming promptly. Adding a touch of excitement, the Philadelphia-based school welcomed some special guests, including Jalen Hurts from the Philadelphia Eagles, along with fellow players Brandon Graham and Jason Kelce.

The series, created by and starring Quinta Brunson, gained further recognition when she won the Best Actress in a Comedy Emmy for her work in season two. The show, which centers around the humorous happenings at Abbott Elementary, received praise and support from various celebrities. Comedian Amber Riley suggested the addition of an a cappella group to the show, while American Idol finalist Paris Bennett expressed excitement for any potential role. Even Fargo actor Lamorne Morris playfully rejected a guest star offer, unless, of course, he was asked.

The show's return will see the reunion of an ensemble cast, including Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, and Emmy Award winner Sheryl Lee Ralph, as they gather once again in the teacher's lounge of Abbott Elementary.

With its strong ratings performance, season two of "Abbott Elementary" achieved an impressive 3.56 rating for adults aged 18-49. These numbers marked the highest ratings for an ABC comedy since the conclusion of the long-running hit show, "Modern Family," in the 2019-2020 season.

Fans of the show can now look forward to more laughter and heartwarming moments as "Abbott Elementary" returns for its fourth season, continuing to bring joy and entertainment into our lives.
