Abigail Breslin, the renowned actress known for her role in "Little Miss Sunshine," is at the center of a breach of contract lawsuit filed by Dream Team Studios, LLC and WM Holdings, LLC. The plaintiffs claim that Breslin refused to sign contractual agreements following the filming of the movie "Classified" in Malta, where she worked alongside co-star Aaron Eckhart. The lawsuit, seeking damages in excess of $80,000, accuses Breslin of intentionally interfering with the production's prospective economic advantage.
According to documents obtained by Fox News Digital, the complaint alleges that during the production, Breslin raised concerns about Eckhart's behavior, describing it as "aggressive, demeaning, and unprofessional." The plaintiffs express uncertainty as to whether Breslin confronted Eckhart regarding his alleged conduct.
Representatives for both Breslin and Eckhart were contacted by Fox News Digital for comment, but no response has been provided so far.
The suit further claims that Breslin refused to sign a long form agreement and demanded additional compensation beyond the provisions of her contract to do so. In a letter to the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Breslin reportedly expressed her fear and criticized Eckhart's behavior.
The production faced significant challenges as a result of Breslin's allegations. The complaint states that she refused to be alone in several scenes with Eckhart, leading to costly accommodations being made to accommodate her demands. The production also suffered delivery issues to distribution partners due to Breslin and Eckhart's limited on-screen presence together, resulting in financial losses exceeding $80,000.
To comply with SAG-AFTRA rules, which require providing a safe set, an on-set producer conducted an investigation into Breslin's claims. The resulting report, submitted to WM Holdings, found no evidence to support her allegations against Eckhart, characterizing them as "wild, hysterical, and imaginary."
The plaintiffs allege that Breslin's actions were intentional, malicious, and oppressive. They emphasized that multiple parties invested in the film and had expectations of recouping their investments and sharing in profits.
In response, Breslin's representative, as reported by People magazine, stated that the actress is unaware of any legal action filed against her. The representative added that Breslin denies all allegations made against her and stands firmly by the statement she provided to SAG.
Dream Team Studios, LLC and WM Holdings, LLC are seeking damages of $80,000, along with the costs of the lawsuit and any prejudgment and post-judgment interest. It remains to be seen how this legal dispute will unfold and what impact it will have on the parties involved.
