In an exciting announcement, ABC has revealed plans for the upcoming seasons of its beloved reality TV shows. "The Bachelorette" has been renewed and is set to air in the summer, while the highly anticipated spinoff, "The Golden Bachelorette," will be launching in the fall. The announcement was made during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour on February 9.
The debut season of "The Golden Bachelor" proved to be a massive success, capturing the hearts of 43.4 million viewers and becoming ABC's most-watched unscripted premiere on Hulu. The season centered around 72-year-old Gerry Turner, who ultimately got engaged to Theresa Nist during the finale. The episode, which aired in December, drew in 6.1 million viewers, making it the biggest Bachelor Nation episode in almost three years.
Turner and Nist wasted no time in taking their relationship to the next level as they tied the knot on January 4, just over four months after getting engaged. The Palm Springs wedding ceremony was officiated by contestant Susan Noles and was broadcasted live on ABC.
While the lead for "The Golden Bachelorette" has yet to be announced, fans have expressed their interest in seeing some of the contestants from Turner's season, such as Leslie Fhima and Faith Martin. Executive producer Jason Ehrlich, during a Variety panel discussion in December, acknowledged the remarkable women from the season and highlighted the challenge of selecting just one lead from the pool of talented individuals.
In addition to the renewal of "The Bachelorette" and the launch of "The Golden Bachelorette," insiders suggest that "Dancing with the Stars" will be returning for its 33rd season in the fall. While ABC has yet to make an official announcement, the popular dance competition show is expected to continue its successful run.
Both "The Bachelorette" and its spinoff "The Golden Bachelorette" are produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television and Warner Horizon. Meanwhile, audiences can currently enjoy Season 28 of "The Bachelor," which is currently airing on ABC, keeping fans entertained while they eagerly await the forthcoming seasons of these beloved shows.
As ABC continues to deliver captivating and romantic reality TV content, fans can look forward to more love stories, unforgettable moments, and thrilling dance performances in the near future.
