Title: "Post-Apocalyptic Series 'Fallout' Receives $25 Million California Tax Credit for Second Season"

In exciting news for fans of the post-apocalyptic genre, the highly anticipated series "Fallout" is set to relocate to California for its second season, following its debut on Amazon Prime. The California Film Commission, on Monday, announced that it has approved $25 million in tax incentives for the production, as part of a larger allocation of $152 million in tax credits awarded to twelve TV shows.

"Fallout" boasts the highest budget amongst the shows, with an impressive $153 million in qualified expenditures for the upcoming season. While the first season was primarily produced in New York, with some filming in Utah, the decision to shift to California reflects the state's attractive tax incentives for TV productions.

California's tax incentive program is designed to attract TV shows that have already commenced production in other states or overseas. Under the program, eligible shows receive a credit of 25% of their qualified expenditures, with an additional 20% for each subsequent season. Annually, the state awards around $330 million in tax credits, with 57% dedicated to television shows and the remaining 43% directed towards films.

In addition to "Fallout," Amazon was granted an additional $14.6 million in tax incentives for an untitled "Task Force" show. Warner Bros. Discovery, on the other hand, received $20.2 million for their new series "Latitude," and $12.2 million for the anticipated hospital drama "The Pitt," featuring Noah Wyle and set in Pittsburgh.

The creators of the hit series "Westworld," Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, helm "Fallout," which is based on the beloved video game franchise. Although securing the tax credits is a significant step, it does not guarantee that the show will indeed relocate to California. Just last year, Amazon was awarded $25 million for the second season of "Citadel" to move to the state, but ultimately the show decided to film in Toronto instead, resulting in the funds returning to the general pool for other productions.

According to reports, "Fallout" is expected to commence filming its second season in September, with the production setting up shop in Toronto. While California's tax incentives attract productions of all sizes, the state remains committed to combating "runaway production" where projects seek lucrative tax incentives in other states or countries.

As fans eagerly await the second season of "Fallout," this move to California promises to bring new opportunities, fresh locations, and perhaps even the remnants of the iconic post-apocalyptic wasteland to the silver screen.
