**Jimmy Buffett's Widow Seeks to Remove Co-Trustee of Late Husband's Estate**

Jimmy Buffett's widow, Jane Buffett, is pursuing legal action to remove Richard Mozenter, the co-trustee of her late husband’s estate. According to Variety, Jane Buffett alleges that Mozenter has been "openly hostile and adversarial" towards her, obstructive in providing information, and has not acted in her best interests regarding the management of the estate.

Shortly after Jimmy Buffett passed away in 2023, Jane Buffett met with Mozenter to discuss an estimate of the trust's income to plan her future finances. However, the court filing indicates that Mozenter failed to provide this information and spent 16 months "stonewalling" her requests. It wasn’t until February of this year that Mozenter disclosed the trust would generate less than $2 million annually from the $275 million estate. This revelation was particularly startling to Jane Buffett, considering the Margaritaville company had disbursed $14 million over the previous year and a half.

Additionally, Jane Buffett's filing criticizes Mozenter's refusal to sell a scarcely used property in the Bahamas that costs the estate $300,000 annually for maintenance. Despite his alleged uncooperative behavior, Mozenter billed the estate over $1.7 million for his services, as reported by Billboard.

The legal team for Jane Buffett is advocating for Mozenter’s removal due to his "unprofessional and combative communications" and his complaints about the perceived inefficiency of his discussions with her. A friend of the Buffett family expressed disappointment over the situation, noting, "Jimmy would never have wanted Jane to be treated like this." The friend highlighted the deep bond and trust between Jimmy and Jane Buffett, emphasizing how integral Jane was to many of Jimmy’s significant life and career decisions.
