In an update on their 2024-2025 lineup, CBS has revealed the first cancellations for the spring season. The network has decided not to renew the second-year dramedy "So Help Me Todd" and the third-season drama "CSI: Vegas". These shows were among the few CBS scripted series that had uncertain futures until now.

According to Nielsen's seven-day linear ratings, "CSI: Vegas" has been attracting an average of around 6.4 million viewers per episode, while "So Help Me Todd" has been drawing approximately 6.3 million viewers. Although these numbers make them two of the most-watched shows to be axed this season (excluding the pre-announced end of "Young Sheldon"), CBS holds high standards with 12 out of the top 15 scripted series since the broadcasters' post-strike lineups were unveiled in mid-February.

Looking ahead to the 2024-2025 season, CBS has three new dramas in the pipeline. "NCIS: Origins" will provide viewers with the story of a younger Leroy Jethro Gibbs, while the Sherlock Holmes-inspired medical drama "Watson" and the Kathy Bates-led Matlock reboot, a holdover from the 2023 development cycle, are also set to make their debut. Additionally, two new comedies, a "Young Sheldon" spinoff and "Poppa's House" featuring Damon Wayans Sr. and Jr., are slated for next season.

Both "CSI: Vegas" and "So Help Me Todd" are produced by CBS Studios, with Jerry Bruckheimer Television also involved in the production of the former. After the end of the 2023-2024 season, these two canceled shows will join "Young Sheldon" and "Bob Hearts Abishola" in leaving CBS. Furthermore, "Blue Bloods" is currently in its final season but will wrap up with its last episodes airing in the fall. Only two other CBS scripted shows, "The Equalizer" and "NCIS: Hawai'i", are still awaiting word on their futures.

With the announcement of the cancellations, CBS continues to make strategic decisions regarding its programming, aiming to maintain its position as a leading network in the television industry. Viewers will now eagerly await the arrival of the new dramas and comedies that CBS has in store for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
