Toyota has issued a recall for more than 750,000 of its Highlander models due to a safety concern with the front bumper. The recall affects certain Highlanders from the model years 2020 to 2023, including hybrid versions of the popular vehicle, according to reports from The Hill and the Associated Press.

The issue revolves around the connection of the front lower bumper covers, which are secured by mounting tabs. Toyota has identified a potential problem where even a minor impact to the bumper assembly could cause these tabs to detach, leading to parts falling onto the road and posing a hazard to both the vehicle and other drivers.

In response, Toyota has announced that it will notify affected owners by late December. However, owners can also check to see if their Highlander is included in the recall by visiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website at nhtsa.gov/recalls and entering their vehicle information.

The automaker has instructed its dealers to conduct inspections of the bumper cover tabs for any signs of damage. If no damage is found, dealers will install improved hardware to secure the covers. In cases where damage is detected, dealers will replace the bumper covers and add the improved hardware, ensuring the safety of the affected Highlanders.

This recall underscores Toyota's commitment to prioritizing the safety of its customers and addressing potential defects promptly. Owners of the impacted Highlanders are urged to take the necessary steps to have their vehicles inspected and repaired in order to prevent any potential accidents or injuries.

For more information or assistance, owners are encouraged to contact Toyota customer service or visit their nearest Toyota dealership.
