Tesla is set to release its 4.27.5 App Update on December 5, which brings a host of new features to enhance the overall experience for Tesla owners. The update follows closely on the heels of the 4.27.3 release, which debuted Cybertruck Support.

The highly anticipated 4.27.5 update introduces three key features: Waypoints Navigation Support, Supercharger Photos, and Phone Key Improvements. These changes aim to provide Tesla drivers with enhanced trip planning capabilities and a better understanding of Supercharger locations.

One of the standout features of the 4.27.5 update is the addition of Waypoints Navigation Support. With this new functionality, Tesla drivers will be able to add multiple stops to their trip, streamlining their route planning process. By simply tapping the "Edit Trip" button, drivers can now add up to four waypoints. The App will automatically calculate the optimal route and suggest necessary charging stops to ensure a seamless journey to their desired destination. This feature has been long-awaited by Tesla enthusiasts and was finally introduced in November 2021.

In an effort to provide more information for drivers, the latest update also includes Supercharger Photos. When selecting a Supercharger location, drivers will now have access to images of the stalls or stations. This visual aid will give them a better idea of what to expect upon arrival. Additionally, it can assist with navigation, allowing drivers to identify the surrounding areas of the Supercharger and thereby potentially avoiding any missed turn-offs, ultimately saving valuable time during their charging stops.

Furthermore, Tesla users utilizing the iOS version of the app may notice a new permission request regarding Apple's Motion and Fitness Activity. While initially puzzling, Alex Guichet, a developer for Tesla's Mobile App, clarified that this permission enables improved accuracy for the Phone Key feature. By checking if the user's phone has been in motion recently, walk-up unlock functionality can be effectively enhanced. This prevents unexpected unlocks, such as when the car is parked in close proximity to the charging phone. Tesla has continuously worked on improving the Phone Key technology since its initial launch in 2017.

The 4.27.5 App Update is an important step for Tesla in its ongoing commitment to enriching the driving experience for its customers. With the addition of Waypoints Navigation Support, Supercharger Photos, and Phone Key Improvements, Tesla owners can expect a smoother and more efficient journey. The update is set to be available from December 5 onwards, offering users a range of exciting new features to enhance their Tesla driving experience.
