In a surprising turn of events, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of renowned video game developer Rockstar Games, has filed two trademark disputes against Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind Alan Wake 2. The disputes revolve around Remedy's new logo, which Take-Two claims bears striking similarities to Rockstar's own iconic "R" logo.
The trademark disputes were recently filed in the United Kingdom by Take-Two, with Remedy being named as the "opponent." The filings, submitted on May 11, 2023, come just a month after Remedy unveiled their redesigned logo, featuring a stylized "R."
While the legal battle ensues, it is worth noting that Rockstar and Remedy have a long-standing history of collaboration, most notably through their work on the beloved Max Payne series. In fact, despite the trademark dispute, the two companies are currently working together on a remake package for Max Payne 1 and 2. Remedy had previously announced that the game had entered the production readiness stage in October of last year.
As fans eagerly await further details on the trademark conflict, it may be interesting to read Game Informer's review of Alan Wake 2, the latest offering from Remedy Entertainment. Additionally, Rockstar Games has recently released the official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, set to hit the gaming world in 2025.
