Palworld Rockets to Success as the Second Highest Played Paid Steam Game

Palworld, the recently launched game in Early Access, has quickly soared to incredible heights. Within a mere three days of its release, the game has managed to sell over 4 million copies, securing it a spot as the second-most-played paid game in the history of Steam.

At its peak, Palworld attracted an impressive concurrent player base of 1,291,967 players. Although it falls behind the current record holder, PUBG: Battlegrounds, with its staggering 3,257,248 concurrent players, it is important to note that PUBG achieved this record when it was still a paid premium title.

Despite being ranked fifth in the overall list of player bases on Steam, Palworld has surpassed several notable games, including Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, and Baldur's Gate 3. It sits just below popular free-to-play games like DOTA 2, Counter-Strike 2, and Lost Ark.

The overwhelming success of Palworld is especially noteworthy considering the controversies surrounding the game. Critics have accused Pocket Pair, the game's developer, of ripping off Pokemon characters and utilizing AI for the development process. However, Pocket Pair has not yet addressed these allegations publicly.

As the game continues to shatter records on Steam, Insider Gaming has sought out comments from Pocket Pair regarding the claims made by players. So far, no official response has been given.

The triumph of Palworld in breaking Steam records is undoubtedly impressive. Stay tuned to Insider Gaming for more updates, and don't miss our coverage on Mountaintop's latest shooter, Spectre.
