In the midst of the ongoing Xbox and Microsoft rumors, a new speculation has emerged. Reports indicate that the Microsoft exclusive game, Sea of Thieves, developed by Rare, may be considered for release on other platforms such as the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation.

Jeff Grubb, a renowned gaming host from Giant Bomb and Game Mess Mornings, recently mentioned on his show that Sea of Thieves could potentially make its way to other platforms. Grubb stated, "That was the one that might be coming to other platforms," suggesting that Microsoft is working on revising its strategy. While the idea of Sea of Thieves on the Nintendo Switch seems improbable given the game's expansive world and online multiplayer features, some speculate that "Switch" could be a placeholder for Nintendo's upcoming console.

Stephen Totilo, a former Kotaku editor and Axios reporter, also heard similar rumors regarding Sea of Thieves coming to PlayStation. In his Game File newsletter, Totilo mentioned sources familiar with port plans claiming that Microsoft is exploring the possibility of launching Sea of Thieves on PlayStation. Totilo reached out to an Xbox representative for comment, but they declined to provide any further information. He also mentioned that he could only verify potential plans for a PlayStation release and not for other platforms.

Sea of Thieves, an online multiplayer adventure game centered around pirate-themed gameplay, originally launched on Xbox One and Windows in 2018. Initially receiving mixed reviews, the game has since undergone significant updates, establishing itself as one of the most successful modern Xbox games. An enhanced version was released on Xbox Series X|S in 2020, and it is also available on Xbox Game Pass.

While the speculation around Sea of Thieves expanding onto other platforms continues to circulate, another rumor has caught the attention of gaming enthusiasts. There are murmurs about a critically acclaimed title from Microsoft making a potential leap to other platforms as well. Popular theories suggest either Hi-Fi Rush, a highly anticipated contender for the 2023 Game of the Year, or Obsidian's Pentiment.

As of now, Microsoft has not officially confirmed any plans for Sea of Thieves' availability on Switch or PlayStation. However, the mere possibility has captured the interest and excitement of fans, who eagerly await further updates from the gaming giant.
