Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 has recently been released on the PS5 and PS4, and it seems that dedicated fans have wasted no time in uncovering hints of potential future Metal Gear ports. According to Timo635 on Reddit, clear references to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain have been discovered in the PC launcher for the Metal Gear Solid 2 version found in the collection.

Timo635 explains, "There's a function for finding the right path to read assets for. They have listings for all the Volume 1 games, but also 4, 5, and Peace Walker, hinting that those may actually be part of the rumored Vol. 2."

While the name "Vol. 1" has always suggested that Konami has plans for more Metal Gear re-releases, these findings seem to provide a degree of confirmation for fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of more titles in the series.

The inclusion of Metal Gear Solid 4 in particular is significant, as the game has long been exclusive to the PS3 platform. If a port is indeed on the horizon, it could mark a new era for the beloved title. Similarly, Peace Walker, which was originally tied to the PSP before being remastered on the PS3, may finally attain the freedom of multiplatform availability in the near future. However, it remains to be seen how a port of Metal Gear Solid 4 will fare, considering its heavy reliance on PS3-specific functionalities.

Regarding Metal Gear Solid 5, the game already runs smoothly on both the PS4 and PS5 through backwards compatibility. Therefore, it is anticipated that its re-release as part of the Master Collection will primarily involve packaging it with updated features, rather than major technical changes.

It is worth noting that rumors surrounding these specific games being included in Vol. 2 surfaced months ago, further strengthening the evidence that has now been discovered by diligent fans. As excitement continues to build, fans eagerly await official announcements from Konami regarding the possibility of these desired ports becoming a reality.

In the meantime, Metal Gear Solid fans can immerse themselves in the recently released Master Collection Vol. 1 while speculating on what further surprises may be in store for the celebrated franchise.
